Tires -

Hubcaps -
The true purpose of the hubcap is to cover the hub quantum of the wheel. (The part the lug nuts screw onto.) A hub is commonly about 2 to 10 inches in diameter. Hubcaps have many other names, including town Caps, Wheel Caps and Dog Dishes. Since the early 1900's, hubcaps have snapped into place using clips on the back side of the caps that basically use a force fit to hold them in place. Generally, manufacturers like Ford, Nissan and Mazda build their automobiles using a steel wheel described above. These are reasonable and easy to make on a mass scale. Steel wheels are strong and supply great service, but flat-black steel is not exactly the most eye-catching style. This is where the wheel cover comes to the rescue. It covers the "ugly" steel wheel, giving your car or truck that slight extra sparkle without having to shell out the big bucks for custom rims.
